Hi there! I'm Greg. I'm a psychologist by training, software developer by trade, husband, and dad.
I'm building TraitLab, a tool for building self-awareness through scientific personality measures.
TraitLab grew out of my research interests, which centered on two big questions in personality psychology:
- How can we measure personality practically and reliably?
- How can we use personality assessments to improve our lives?
You can find most of my published research on Google Scholar, but a few representative publications include:
-
Regional personality assessment through social media language
Journal of Personality -
Living in the past, present, and future: Measuring temporal orientation with language
Journal of Personality -
Women are warmer but no less assertive than men: Gender and language on Facebook
PLoS One -
Automatic personality assessment through social media language
Journal of Personality and Social Psychology -
Contrasting intellectual patterns predict creativity in the arts and sciences
Psychological Science
Now and then, I'll share something on my blog when I think of something worth sharing. Here are few of my more popular posts:
- Your personality in 100 words
- What is TraitLab?
- How to assess personality from Facebook posts
- Three ways to use Ruby's #group_by
- The dangers of overfitting: a Kaggle postmortem
I basically avoid social media, but you can reach me at greg@gregpark.io.
